Savage oil coolers
Savage oil coolers carry the same materials story as the heat exchangers — nickel-plated copper shells, cupro-nickel tubes, bronze ends — applied to gearbox, engine and hydraulic oil. The 50 series is the compact sealed transmission cooler; the 75 and 100 series step up in capacity for engine and hydraulic duty; and the HD 100-150 heavy-duty units carry commercial and industrial loads. Beyond the standard range, modular construction lets Savage build larger custom coolers to suit.

The lineup
Ratings shown are typical Australian applications, not factory limits - final selection is confirmed against your engine's heat rejection at quote.
| Model | Construction | Typical application |
|---|---|---|
| 50 series | Sealed marine transmission cooler | - |
| 75 series | Engine / hydraulic / industrial duty | - |
| 100 series | Higher-capacity engine and hydraulic duty | - |

Where these earn their keep
- Marine gearbox and transmission oil
- Engine and hydraulic oil circuits
- Generators, fire pumps and irrigation pumps
- Hydraulic machinery and engine-test equipment
The materials, always
Nickel-plated copper shells, 90/10 cupro-nickel tube bundles, bronze O-ring-sealed end caps and zinc anode protection - the materials specification is the product.
Luxfords is Savage's Australian distributor - named on Savage's own export page - stocking the MK-series exchangers, oil coolers and service parts in Mornington with sizing help and cross-referencing at the counter.
Owners ask
How do I size an oil cooler?
By heat load and oil flow, not guesswork: gearbox coolers are usually specified from the transmission maker's heat-rejection figure, and hydraulic coolers from system power and duty cycle. Send us the engine or system details and we'll match the series and size - and cross-reference an existing Savage unit from the numbers on its shell.
Can a Savage cooler replace another brand's unit?
Usually, yes. Shell diameter, length, connection sizes and mounting decide the swap; Savage's standard range covers the common envelopes and the factory builds custom sizes where it doesn't. Measure the old unit's shell and connections, or send photos, and we'll match it.
