Cooling for industrial & mining plant
The same Bowman shell-and-tube engineering that cools boats runs drilling machines, rock crushers and gensets in some of the harshest conditions on earth — underground and open-cast, clean water or salty mine water. Luxfords supplies and supports the range across Australia.

Built for arduous duty — by design, not adaptation
From Bowman's own mining specification — these aren't marine coolers pressed into land service.
35 bar working pressure
Most models suit water and oil pressures up to 35 bar, with SAE hydraulic oil flange connections available on larger models for direct high-pressure plumbing.
Harsh-water tube stacks
Stack materials and construction variants to suit mine water conditions — including high salt content — plus titanium and stainless options for the worst sources.
Floating tube stack
The stack floats in the shell to minimise thermal stress, and withdraws for cleaning or replacement without disturbing the installation — maintainability that matters at a remote site.
Underground coal options
Cast iron construction available for underground coal mining applications where ignition and corrosion rules are strict.
High thermal density
High heat-transfer surface area per unit volume — serious cooling capacity in spaces where an air-blast cooler simply doesn't fit or would clog with dust.
OEM pedigree
Bowman is an OEM supplier to leading mining equipment manufacturers, with the same components available as retro/repair fitments in the field.
Where we supply them
Cooling hydraulic systems on mining plant is a safety item, not a comfort item — hot oil means lost viscosity, slipping pumps and shortened component life on machines that are expensive to stop. Bowman shell-and-tube coolers handle drilling machines, rock crushers, conveyors and mobile plant hydraulics in both underground and open-cast operations — including open-cast sites where ambient air is simply too hot for conventional air-cooling to work.
Beyond mining, the same units cool diesel gensets, fire pump drivers, harbour and port equipment, and fixed industrial hydraulics across Australia. If it makes heat and there's water available, there's a Bowman frame for it.
Gensets & power
Jacket water, charge air and oil cooling for generator sets — header tank units replace the radiator entirely where airflow is limited.
Drill rigs & crushers
Hydraulic oil cooling rated for dust, vibration and 24/7 duty cycles.
Standby engines
Simple, passive cooling for plant that must start and run flawlessly on the worst day.
Ports & harbour plant
Cranes, winches and straddle carriers — sea water on the cold side, Bowman materials matched to it.
Industrial & mining FAQs
Aren't these marine products? Why use them on a mine site?
Bowman builds the same shell-and-tube frames in marine and land-based versions at the same thermal ratings — the marine units get cupronickel stacks and marine end covers, the land units get materials matched to fresh, bore or mine water. Bowman is an OEM supplier to leading mining equipment manufacturers, and its coolers run on drilling and rock-crushing machines in underground and open-cast operations worldwide.
What about really aggressive or salty mine water?
That's a materials question, and Bowman offers the options: tube stack variations specifically for harsh mine water including high salt content, titanium stacks for the worst sources, cast iron construction for underground coal mining, and a stainless steel range for chemically aggressive fluids. Tell us what's in the water — a basic water analysis is enough to pick the right stack.
What pressures can the oil and water sides take?
Most Bowman models are suitable for water and oil pressures up to 35 bar, and larger models are available with SAE hydraulic oil flange connections for direct plumbing into high-pressure circuits. If your application runs above that, send the figures and we'll confirm the right unit with Bowman.
Can you supply replacement coolers for equipment in the field?
Usually, yes. Bowman components are available as retro and repair fitments to overcome cooling problems on existing plant, and because the tube stack withdraws from the shell, a worn stack can often be replaced without touching the installation. Send photos and measurements of the failed unit — even unmarked ones can usually be identified.
Industrial cooling, specified properly.
Tell us the machine, the heat load or installed power, and what the cooling water is like — we'll match the Bowman unit and materials, and quote with spares.
Selection verified against Bowman's data before anything ships — and spares advice included with every quote.
