Engine & Transmission Oil Coolers
Protect your driveline, extend service life
Keep engine and transmission oils at the right temperature with Bowman's water-cooled shell-and-tube oil coolers. Backed by over 100 years of heat transfer expertise, they deliver dependable performance for off-highway, construction, mining, marine and industrial applications — with oil flows from 30 to 550 l/min.

Protect Your Driveline, Extend Service Life
Bowman engine and transmission oil coolers are water-cooled shell-and-tube heat exchangers built to maintain the correct oil operating temperature. Holding oil in its ideal thermal window extends the service life of engine and transmission components, cuts wear, and reduces costly downtime. Because they're water-based rather than air-based, they also warm oil up faster from cold — an advantage in cold climates.
Each cooler features a fully floating tube stack housed within a cast aluminium body, allowing the stack to expand and contract freely and minimising thermal stress. End covers with O-ring seals let the tube stack be withdrawn easily for cleaning and routine maintenance, while the robust construction resists accidental damage far better than comparable air/oil coolers.
Engineered for some of the world's most demanding environments — torque converters, automatic transmissions and engine oils in construction plant, emergency vehicles, materials handling and deep underground mining. As the Australian distributor for Bowman, Luxfords offers expert selection support, local quoting and access to the full replacement parts range.
Why Choose Bowman Engine & Transmission Oil Coolers?
Fully Floating Tube Stack
A free-floating tube stack within the cast aluminium body absorbs expansion and contraction to minimise thermal stress.
Easy Installation
End covers with hose connections drop straight into the engine's coolant circuit for fast, straightforward fitting.
Simple Maintenance
Removable O-ring sealed end covers let the tube stack be withdrawn for cleaning without specialist tools.
Robust & Compact
A rugged build resists accidental damage and the compact footprint integrates neatly into existing systems.

Materials & Construction
Bowman engine and transmission oil coolers are built around a fully floating tube stack housed in a cast aluminium body — a construction that absorbs thermal expansion while keeping the unit compact and rugged. End covers are sealed with O-rings and secured with screws.
A comprehensive range of genuine replacement parts — end covers, tube stacks, bodies, O-ring seals and screws — is available for every model, so units can be economically serviced rather than replaced.
Correct Installation
Fit the cooler into the coolant circuit between the radiator bottom tank and the engine coolant inlet, keeping pipe bends to as large a radius as possible to reduce pressure drop. To maximise heat transfer, the oil pipe connections must be installed for counter flow. EC to GL ranges are available with in-line or right-angled end covers and a range of coolant connection diameters. Tighten end-cover screws to the torque specified on each range drawing.
Servicing & Parts
Servicing is straightforward — remove the end-cover retaining screws and the tube stack withdraws from the outer shell for cleaning or maintenance. On reassembly, Bowman recommends fitting new O-ring seals and re-tightening to the specified torque. Genuine replacement parts are available for all models, and Luxfords supports customers with maintenance workshops on Australia's east and west coasts.
